“It’s all about the loop ....”
Loop Music founded in 2005 is the brainchild of Ben Clarke and Steve Marx. Started to promote up and coming artists it has evolved into a mini DJ collective and spawned a successful weekly radio show.
Ben and Steve have been DJing and promoting nights in and around London for the past 8 years . The pair have formed a close friendship and have guested at venues across the city including The Cross and Ministry of Sound as well as playing international gigs in Romania, Switzerland and Ibiza. Ben, alongside fellow “loopster”, Francis Mallinson was a resident at long running house night Twisted Melon from 2004 - 2007 and the pair now co-promote the night Chez Nous.
In May 2006 the “The Loop Music Mix Show” was born aiming to broadcast upcoming DJs alongside more established names from the London club scene. The show, which is hosted by internet station Reticent Radio, is also available as a download and a podcast via the iTunes music store.
The listener base has grown steadily and the fortnightly installment has become known for providing quality electronic music without the constraints of genres and “pigeon holing”. Always willing to push the boundaries, the Loop Music offerings that accompany each shows guest mix have allowed them to look beyond the music they regularly play in their club sets and take a slightly more experimental direction.
More recently the duo has become a trio as the guys have been joined by regular contributor Tom Duncan who brings with him a whole load of new ideas and a fresh take on the Loop Music sound.
Over the past 3 years they have played host to over 40 different DJs ranging from rising stars, recently graduated from their bedrooms, to international heros such as Neil Quigley and Kasey Taylor. With so many more exciting guests lined up for the coming months it doesn’t look like they will be slowing down in 2009.
